Why this exists
In 2016, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. The treatment was brutal, and watching her rebuild her strength afterward was almost harder. She was smart and capable, and she was drowning in contradictory advice.
So I asked her what would actually help. She said:
“I don’t need more information. I need someone to help me understand what actually matters for someone my age. Give me steps I can take. And please, treat me like the intelligent adult I am.”
That answer is what I’ve tried to write ever since.
My parents are 80 now, and my mom is thriving. Watching them changed how I think about my own age, too. I used to be afraid of getting older. I’m not anymore.
If you’ve ever been handed a pile of advice and no clear next step, this is for you.
